Driftwood Interior Designs is a residential design studio in Charleston serving downtown, Mount Pleasant, Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms and Daniel Island. We offer full-service design and furnishing procurement, focused on taking newly built and builder-grade homes and finishing them into layered, personal coastal retreats. A spec house arrives clean, capable and anonymous. We give it a point of view: vertical lap and tile in place of drywall, textured wallcoverings, built-ins that read as furniture, and a palette drawn from marsh and water. Our flagship project transforms a new-construction Sullivan's Island spec home into a personal retreat, reworking the fireplace wall, kitchen and pantry, baths, porches and grounds so the house reads as designed rather than built to sell.

Our approach

We start with the architecture as built and ask what it is missing rather than what could be replaced. Most new houses need texture, scale and restraint more than they need demolition. We work in a narrow palette, repeat a few materials with intention, and choose furnishings that will look better in ten years than they do on delivery day.

Renderings on this site are proposals for work in progress. We label them as such and we will show the finished rooms only when they are finished.
